1st opposition: Grove Academy (Margaret Nicoll and Clare Richardson)
2nd opposition: Newcastle RGS A (Andrew Bellis and Eddie Bolger)
Judges: George Molyneaux (chair), Ciarian Lawlor, Rhidian Morgan, Kirsty Russell, Euan McDonald.
The winners were Newcastle RGS A.
The best speaker on tab was Sebastian Faraquhar of Leeds Grammar School.
Overall the standard of debating demonstrated throughout the day was outstanding, with a very lively final in which the speakers captured the floor to great effect.
We would like to thank all the judges, many of whom travelled a (very) long way to get to the competition. It was also great that so many schools were able to travel so far to take part.
In particular we’d also like to thank our CA George Molyneaux and tabmaster Bob Nimmo, both of whom did an outstanding job.
Hoping to see lots of you again in Newcastle next year,
Harish and Roger
